Sith Revenge

Been fighting the flu now for the past four days but thought I'd take a second and force myself onto the computer to post my latest painting.
I had the idea to do a female sith warrior holding the severed head of some sort of monster. However, it eventually turned into this idea that this sith was originally one of the Hutt's concubine slaves. She eventually escapes and is trained in the ways of the dark side of the force and decides to exact her revenge on the Hutt that was once her master. That's why she's crying, since she's experiencing this evil sense of joy in exacting her revenge even though it brings back all the bad memories.
If you look closely you'll also notice that she has some veins and discoloration on her face, a byproduct of the dark side of the force and its power coursing through her veins.
Just under 16 hours and 30 minutes to complete, enjoy!

Dwarf Portrait

So I just recently got turned on to the artist Justin Gerard; his work that was Hobbit related was very inspiring to me, so I thought I'd take a stab at doing a painting that was a little more cartoon like. Anyways this was a relatively quick painting, maybe 9 hours altogether in Photoshop CS4. I was trying to go for some old time portraiture so hopefully I nailed it. Enjoy!
Orc Slayer Revised

Yeah so here's another revision, but if you keep up with me you're probably used to that now. After getting some feedback from some highly esteemed artists that have been mentoring me, I decided to to fix some perspective and lighting/shadow issues that were plaguing the original. I feel like this is a much stronger piece now and as always a great learning process. Like anything with art, it's all about refining and learning how to see "more accurately". So, hope you enjoy seeing the process and how it changes!

Orc Slayer

So here's a new digital painting which I just finished up. I had the idea that it would be a balrog and an orc fighting but then I decided to switch it up and create a creature that was about to deliver the finishing blow to an orc, hence I called it an orc slayer. Anyways I hope you enjoy it

Vintage Pin-up Christmas Card
Sinestro

Sadly I wasn't able to finish as much work over Christmas break as I wanted, what with the Holidays, my brother coming, etc. But no excuses, because it was fun and all worth it! Here's my first little piece, I just wanted to have some fun and for some reason Sinestro popped up in my head, so yeah, that's what I chose.

The Beauty and His Beast
It's finally finished!!!!!So for those of you that like to keep up on this sort of stuff I finally finished my "A Taste of Things to Come" picture! This is without a doubt the most intense piece of art, digital or traditional, that I've ever done in my life!
This was a great learning exercise and I have to thank the amazing Derek Herring
for pushing me to go beyond my typical paintings and really render this thing out as tight as I possibly could!
Sadly this piece took forever to complete, mainly because of school work (oh Maya and 3ds max, you do take up so much of my time don't you, oh and then there was the TMNT vs Zombies storyboard). Nevertheless I finally finished it after a month and 50 hours to work!
One of the main problems I had for completing this was that I redid the dragon's head 3 times! yet it was good and it worked out to the best of my abilities in the end.
As far as the picture goes, I had this idea that this warrior night elf was rescuing her imprisoned dragon. I envisioned the dragon as being a lich dragon and having a rock like quality to his scales, not the typical lizard scales you normally see. I wanted it to be very large textured protrusions so I hope I nailed it
I'm still nowhere near where I want to be but I feel like this is the first piece that I've attempted where I've gotten close. There's a lot more to do but I'll get there eventually!
Hope you enjoy!

3D Maya Interior

Here's an assignment I recently completed for my first Maya class, it's nothing spectacular but, eh, it's work so I'll post it :)
As you can tell from this scene I'm not much of a modeler (or texture artist, or lighter LOL)! I definitely have no idea how to light realistically without Mental Ray and since my instructor didn't want us to use it....voila, crappy lighting...and textures too but I guess i can't blame that on Mental Ray now can I :)
Anyways, next quarter I've got a class on texturing and lighting so I think I'll be able to make some major and much needed improvements there. I'm also shooting to learn a lot over Christmas break, so while I'm not really a modeler, texture artist, or lighter hopefully I'll get a little closer to being those in the upcoming year :)
